I have started a local discipleship group. Someone asked if I would be willing to try something online. After one of the Wednesday night members said he would also be interested in also participating in an online discussion, I decided to go forward with it.

We're using Wayne Grudem's Twenty Basics Every Christian Should Know, and we covered Chapter 1, "What is the Bible?" last night. It was a great discussion.

The 3rd time was not the charm as Jodi and I have been planning to record for 3 weeks now but something major happens and I can't make it. I am sorry. We are planning to once again get together this Friday - we both have so much to share - pray for us that Satan will stay out of the way and we can get it done.

I got wrangled into doing the sound for the high school play -- they really need me. I really don't have much of a choice. I'll have to practice with them Thursday and Friday.

I know for certain (testimony from their own mouths) that we have not less than two people in our Church who deny trinitarian theology. My own parents deny the truth of the Trinity! This essay is succinct, and informs that discussion.

I started teaching in August. I just haven't had the time or energy to put into producing a podcast lately.

I'll look to see if there are any updates to the captcha module. Maybe that has been addressed.

I miss it to. I miss a lot of the stuff I did before I started teaching. Maybe some things will line out when I finish my first semester teaching.

He and his family were at church last week. He had finally gotten his "fat guy" wheelchair.

Dan wasn't at church this morning. I called the house this afternoon, and talked to his baby. She informed me that they had taken him to the hospital last night. By the time I called the hospital, he had already been discharged.

Okay, I just got off the phone with Dan. He is in the hospital. The reason that the front desk told me he had been dismissed was that he was still in the emergency room and had not been admitted to the hospital, yet. I did finally find him.

This visit is because his back is hurting him, but they did find out that his foot is infected again.

Keep him and his family in your prayers. Dan's girls start school on Tuesday. That's a rough way to start the school year.

We call it an ox today. The word unicorn comes from another word that means wild bull. Most references to the unicorn are in Psalms, after the flood. It's not talking about a horse with a horn on it's head. The reference in Job clearly indicates it's talking about an ox when it mentions harrowing a field.

heh... there's another word that was wrongly translated (KJV)... "Pelican," I think...

I heard an interesting commentary one time that the word should have been translated "flamingo," and the way I heard it sounded really good, but NIV translates it as "desert owl." The NASB sticks with 'pelican,' as does Young's.

I think there may have been some errors when the "original authors" backtranslated God's 1611 KJV revelation into their native Hebrew and lingua franca Greek. :-D

Feeback on tithing

I've received two good email feedbacks on tithing (Show #52). One is from the creator of this website: http://www.nomoretithing.org/, the other is a 10 page paper from a cousin of mine. (I'll see if Wes will give me permission to republish it.)

I do not endorse the NoMoreTithing.org message. I disagree strongly with it, but I think it's really, really good stuff and worth considering. In essence, I go go even further than these guys. I'm ready to concede to these guys and Dan and say, "okay, I'll give up 'tithing,' by name, but I still think that if you're not giving at a minimum 10%, you're stealing from your King, robbing from the Church and making the future Queen of the Universe live in rags..... but I'll not call it 'tithing' if that makes you feel better."

The thing that really scares me about the "NoMoreTithing.org" guy (George Greene) is that he starts out his first video wagging his finger at the camera, telling me that he's going to prove to me from the Bible that tithing isn't required of the New Testament Church.... Whoa, there, buddy! Anytime anyone comes at me finger-wagging, "proving" anything from the Bible, all my alarms go off. That's the words and tactics of Cults, and I don't like it.

.... It also has a way to shutting down dialog and conversation, which are things I cherish.

I plan on getting an associates of applied science in Professional Pilot Tech. That means I am going to go to college for two years and leave a pilot.
